Biography
Tony Hendra (10 July 1941 – 4 March 2021) was an English satirist, actor and writer who worked mainly in the United States. He played Ian Faith, the manager of the rock band Spinal Tap, in the 1984 mockumentary film This Is Spinal Tap.
Educated at St Albans School and St John's College, Cambridge, Hendra was a member of the Cambridge University Footlights revue in 1962 alongside John Cleese, Graham Chapman and Tim Brooke-Taylor. In 1984 he served as head writer and co-producer of the first six episodes of the British satirical television series Spitting Image. He appeared in other films and television programmes including Miami Vice (1984), Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986), Life with Mikey (1993) and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001).
