Biography
Tony Solomons is an editor, producer and director working primarily in American television. He began his career in the editorial department on feature films, serving as assistant editor on As Good as It Gets (1997) and Practical Magic (1998), and later as editor on titles including Lost Boys: The Thirst (2010) and Californication (2007).
Solomons is best known for his extensive work on The Vampire Diaries (2009–2017), where he edited 29 episodes across seasons four to eight, acted as co-producer and supervising producer, and directed two episodes. He continued in similar roles on the spin-off Legacies (2018–2022), editing multiple episodes and serving as co-producer and producer.
Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Solomons studied at Syracuse University and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts before completing an MFA in film editing at the American Film Institute. He is the author of The Avid Digital Editing Room Handbook and has been an adjunct professor of editing at the University of Southern California since 1996.
