Biography
Tor Johnson was a Swedish professional wrestler and actor. Born Karl Erik Tore Johansson, he competed in the ring as the Super Swedish Angel and Thor Johnson before moving to California in the late 1920s. He began appearing in films in the 1930s, usually in uncredited bit parts as a strongman or weightlifter.
Johnson is best known for his roles in low-budget horror films directed by Edward D. Wood Jr., including Bride of the Monster (1955) as Lobo, Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957) as Inspector Clay, and Night of the Ghouls (1959) as Lobo. He also appeared in The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961) as Joseph Javorsky. He died in San Fernando, California, in 1971.
