Biography
Ulla Smidje was a Swedish actress born on 26 December 1925 in Ullared. She moved to Stockholm after completing her schooling and trained at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy, having earlier joined Per-Axel Branner's ensemble at Nya Teatern.
She performed in stage productions at the Royal Dramatic Theatre, Helsingborg City Theatre and Gothenburg City Theatre, as well as in radio plays. Her film credits include Lars Hård (1948), Only a Mother (1949), While the City Sleeps (1950) and To Bed or Not to Bed (1963). Her final screen appearance was as Inga-Lena in The Emigrants (1971).
Smidje was awarded the Thaliapriset in 1961. She died in Gothenburg on 28 November 1972.
