Biography
Upendra Sidhaye is an Indian screenwriter, dialogue writer and director. Born in Pune on 8 October 1980, he holds a commerce degree and a master's in mass communication from Pune University. He began in theatre in Pune before working as an in-house writer for UTV Motion Pictures.
His breakthrough came with the co-written screenplay for Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008), which earned him a shared Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay. Sidhaye wrote the Hindi adaptation of Drishyam (2015) and contributed dialogues to the Marathi films Killa (2014) and Manjha (2017). He co-wrote Me Vasantrao (2022) and made his feature directorial debut with the Marathi film Girlfriend (2019).
