Biography
Valerie Chow (also credited as Valerie Chow Kar-Ling and Rachel Shane) is a Hong Kong actress, model and entrepreneur. Born on 16 December 1970, she was first runner-up in the 1991 Miss Hong Kong Pageant and graduated with a law degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1993 before entering acting.
She is best known for her role as the Air Hostess in Wong Kar-wai's Chungking Express (1994), which brought her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 14th Hong Kong Film Awards. Other credits include High Risk (1995), The Blade (1995), Phantoms (1998) and Bridge of Dragons (1999). In 1998 she became the first Chinese model signed by Revlon US.
Since 2003 Chow has worked primarily as a fashion publicist. In 2010 she opened Mama Kid, a children's designer store in Hong Kong. She returned to acting in 2018 with the film Prison Architect.
