Biography

Valerie Gogan is a Scottish actress. Born on 5 October 1960 in Glasgow, she left her native city in the 1980s to train at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

She made her film debut as Julie in Stephen Frears's Dangerous Liaisons (1988). Gogan has appeared in other screen roles including Janet Bryson in Waking the Dead (2001) and Beth Carlyle in the BBC series Doctors. On television she has also featured in Hamish Macbeth.

In theatre Gogan has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre and in London's West End. Her stage credits include productions of A Doll's House, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, The Rehearsal and The Secret Rapture.
