Biography
Valerie Harper was an American actress. She began her career as a dancer, appearing in the corps de ballet at Radio City Music Hall and in Broadway musicals including Li'l Abner (1959). She later performed with the Second City improv troupe in Chicago.
Harper played Rhoda Morgenstern on the series The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970–1977), winning three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She starred in the spin-off Rhoda (1974–1978), for which she received a fourth Emmy as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She later starred in the sitcom Valerie (1986–1987).
