Biography
Van Ling is an American visual effects supervisor, film producer and director. Born in 1963, he graduated summa cum laude from the USC School of Cinema-Television. He began his career as a visual effects assistant on The Abyss (1989) and worked as visual effects coordinator and creative supervisor on Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), for which he was also credited as a producer on the special edition.
Ling has supervised visual effects on numerous films, including Titanic (1997), Starship Troopers (1997), Doctor Dolittle (1998) and Not Another Teen Movie (2001). He later produced added-value content for DVD and Blu-ray releases and co-founded the visual effects company Banned from the Ranch Entertainment. In 2019 he wrote and directed the historical drama Cliffs of Freedom.
