Biography
Vanja Černjul is a Croatian cinematographer. Born in Zagreb, he earned a degree in cinematography from the Academy of Dramatic Arts at the University of Zagreb in 1991. In 1995 he moved to the United States and completed an MFA at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
He has photographed numerous American features and television series. His credits include Wristcutters: A Love Story (2007), City Island (2009), The English Teacher (2013), Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and House of the Dragon (2022), as well as the series Orange Is the New Black (2013), Marco Polo (2014) and The Deuce (2017). Černjul is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and has received Primetime Emmy nominations for his work.
