Biography
Vincent Paterson (born 4 May 1950) is an American director and choreographer. He graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he was the first student to major in dramatic arts.
Paterson has worked extensively as a choreographer and director in film, music videos, concert tours, theatre and opera. He collaborated with Michael Jackson on music videos including "Smooth Criminal" and the Bad World Tour, and with Madonna on her Blond Ambition Tour and the film Evita (1996). He choreographed The Birdcage (1996) and Closer (2004) for Mike Nichols.
He appeared as Samuel and directed and choreographed the musical sequences in Lars von Trier's Dancer in the Dark (2000). Paterson has also directed opera productions and received Emmy nominations for his work on television projects.
