Biography
Vincent Peranio is an American production designer and art director. Born in 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland, he earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1968. He began his career creating sets and props for filmmaker John Waters, becoming one of the regular crew members known as the Dreamlanders.
Peranio served as production designer on Waters' films including Pink Flamingos (1972), Female Trouble (1974), Hairspray (1988), Cry-Baby (1990), Serial Mom (1994), Pecker (1998), Cecil B. Demented (2000) and A Dirty Shame (2004). He also worked on other features such as Liberty Heights (1999) and Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000).
His television credits include production design on Homicide: Life on the Street (1993–1999), The Corner (2000) and all five seasons of The Wire (2002–2008). He is married to art director Dolores Deluxe and retired after a career spanning more than four decades.
