Biography
Vincenzo Amato (born 30 March 1966) is an Italian actor and sculptor. Born in Palermo, he is the son of stage director and folk musician Emma Muzzi Loffredo. After high school he moved to Rome, where he studied iron sculpting and held exhibitions before relocating to New York.
In the United States Amato became friends with director Emanuele Crialese, who cast him in his acting debut, Once We Were Strangers (1997). He gained wider recognition for the role of Pietro in Crialese's Respiro (2002) and received a David di Donatello nomination for Best Actor for Nuovomondo (2006). He has appeared in films including Red Notice (2021) and Unbroken (2014), and portrayed Bruno Zirato in Maestro (2023).
