Biography
Virginia Mayo was an American actress. Born Virginia Clara Jones in St. Louis, Missouri, she began in vaudeville before moving into films in the 1940s.
She appeared as Marie Derry in The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) and as Verna Jarrett in White Heat (1949). She featured in several comedies with Danny Kaye and was a leading player at Warner Bros. in the late 1940s. Further credits include The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947), Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. (1951) and The Flame and the Arrow (1950).
Mayo continued working in film and television into the 1980s and 1990s. She was married to actor Michael O'Shea from 1947 until his death in 1973.
