Biography
Vladimir Cruz Marrero is a Cuban actor, screenwriter, playwright, film director and theatre director. Born on 26 July 1965 in Placetas, Cuba, he began acting as an amateur on stage in 1981 and studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana from 1983, graduating in 1988 with a degree in performing arts.
He is known for his role as David in the film Strawberry and Chocolate (1993). Other film credits include Ramiro Valdés Menéndez in Che: Part One (2008), Angelito in 7 Days in Havana (2012) and Rubén in Los buenos demonios (2018). Television work includes Juan Matta Ballesteros in Narcos: Mexico (2018) and Jimmy Tejero in The Day of the Jackal (2024). He has also written and directed plays and films, notably Afinidades (2010), and received the Silver Biznaga for Best Supporting Actor at the Málaga Spanish Film Festival for Los buenos demonios.
