Biography
Volodymyr Nikulin is a Ukrainian police officer who appears as himself in the documentary 20 Days in Mariupol (2023). A lieutenant colonel with the National Police of Ukraine, he has served for thirty years, including time in Donetsk and Mariupol.
Nikulin met the Associated Press film crew in Mariupol in March 2022 and helped them document events during the siege. He later smuggled the journalists and their footage out of the city through Russian checkpoints. The film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
