Biography
Władysław Kowalski (1936–2017) was a Polish actor. He trained at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw, graduating in 1959, and began his career on stage before appearing in films from the late 1950s.
He is known for film roles including Weronika's father in Krzysztof Kieślowski's The Double Life of Véronique (1991), the Game Master in Avalon (2001), Professor U. J. in Katyn (2007), Professor Jan Moll in Gods (2014), and Stefan in Decalogue VII (1989). He also appeared in Body (2015) and Little Rose (2010).
Kowalski maintained a long career in Warsaw theatres, including Ateneum, Powszechny and the Gustaw Holoubek Dramatyczny Theatre, and worked as a pedagogue at the Warsaw theatre academy.
