Biography
Waldemar Lima was a Brazilian cinematographer. Born in Aracaju, Sergipe, on 11 September 1929, he began his career as a still photographer before moving into film in Bahia. He worked on early Cinema Novo productions and collaborated with directors including Glauber Rocha.
Lima served as director of photography on Black God, White Devil (1964). He later photographed and co-directed Society em Baby-Doll (1965), and contributed to films such as O Tropeiro (1964) and Bebel, Garota Propaganda (1968). He also directed, wrote, taught cinematography and worked extensively in advertising and documentaries. Lima died in São Paulo on 19 January 2012.
