Biography
Walt Whitman Rostow was an American economist, political theorist and government official. He served as Special Assistant for National Security Affairs to President Lyndon B. Johnson from 1966 to 1969, having previously held roles in the Kennedy administration including Deputy National Security Advisor.
Rostow appeared as himself in the 1974 documentary film Hearts and Minds, credited as Self – Aide to Presidents Kennedy, Johnson. He is also known for his academic work on economic development, including the 1960 book The Stages of Economic Growth: A Non-Communist Manifesto.
