Biography
Walter Carr (né Walter Anderson) was a Scottish actor and comedian. He began his professional career in 1947 with the Wilson Barrett Players repertory company in Glasgow and Edinburgh, later appearing in productions with the Edinburgh Gateway Company and at the Edinburgh International Festival.
His best-known television role was as the mate Dougie in the BBC Scotland comedy series The Vital Spark (1965–67). Other television appearances included The Dark Island (1962), Mr. John Jorrocks (1966) and Weir of Hermiston (1973). On film he played the schoolmaster in The Wicker Man (1973) and a jeweller in The Girl in the Picture (1985).
Carr died in Perth, Scotland, on 30 May 1998.
