Biography
Walter J. Harvey (born Walter Frederick William Pape) was a British cinematographer. He was born on 9 February 1903 in Hornsey, London, and died in 1979 in London. He was the elder brother of actress Lilian Harvey and was married to Nancy Sherry.
Harvey worked as a director of photography on numerous British films from the 1930s onwards, including Bulldog Drummond at Bay (1937), Whispering Smith Hits London (1952) and The Quatermass Xperiment (1955). In the 1960s he contributed to television series such as The Saint and The Avengers (credited variously as Walter Harvey or Jimmy Harvey). He was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.
