Biography
Walter Lima Jr. is a Brazilian film director and screenwriter. Born on 26 November 1938 in Niterói, he graduated in law from the Fluminense Federal University before beginning his career as a newspaper film critic. In 1963 he met Glauber Rocha and contributed to the screenplay of Black God, White Devil (1964), also serving as assistant director.
His directorial debut was Menino de Engenho (1965). He has directed seventeen films since then, including Brasil Ano 2000 (1969), which won a Silver Bear at the 19th Berlin International Film Festival, A Lira do Delírio (1978) and A Ostra e o Vento (1997). He has also directed documentaries for Brazilian television.
