Biography
William Bast (1931–2015) was an American screenwriter and author. He studied theatre arts at UCLA after earlier attendance at the University of Wisconsin.
Bast wrote episodes for many television series, including The Fugitive (1963), Perry Mason, The Outer Limits, Hawaii Five-O and Combat!. His film work includes the screenplay for The Valley of Gwangi (1969). He co-created the series The Colbys (1985–1987) with his partner Paul Huson and received an Edgar Award for the television film The Legend of Lizzie Borden (1976) and an Emmy nomination for his adaptation of The Man in the Iron Mask (1977). He also wrote two biographies of James Dean.
