Biography

William Campbell (30 October 1923 – 28 April 2011) was an American actor. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he trained at the American Theater Wing and served in the US Navy during the Second World War. He appeared in supporting roles in films including The High and the Mighty (1954), Dementia 13 (1963) and Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964), as well as numerous television guest roles on series such as Perry Mason, Bonanza and Gunsmoke.

Campbell is best known for his work in the Star Trek franchise. He played the god-like alien Trelane in the original series episode 'The Squire of Gothos' (1967) and the Klingon captain Koloth in 'The Trouble with Tribbles' (1967). He reprised the role of Koloth in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode 'Blood Oath' (1994).
