Biography
William Froug was an American television writer and producer. He began his career in radio before moving into television in the mid-1950s. He served as producer on series including The Twilight Zone (1959), Gilligan's Island, Bewitched and Sam Benedict.
As a writer he contributed episodes to Charlie's Angels, Quincy, M.E., The Dick Powell Show and Adventures in Paradise, among more than 200 scripts. He won a Primetime Emmy Award and a Producers Guild of America award for the 1958 Alcoa-Goodyear Theatre production Eddie, and received further Emmy and PGA nominations for work on Bewitched, Playhouse 90, Mr. Novak and The Twilight Zone.
Froug later taught screenwriting at the University of Southern California and UCLA, where he helped shape the screenwriting programme. He authored several books on the subject, including The Screenwriter Looks at the Screenwriter and Screenwriting Tricks of the Trade.
