Biography
William Gao Hardy (Chinese: 高鑫; pinyin: Gāo Xīn) is an English actor and musician. He is known for his debut screen role as Tao Xu in the Netflix series Heartstopper (2022–2024), for which he received a nomination for a Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance. He reprised the role in the 2026 film Heartstopper Forever.
Gao was born on 20 February 2003 in South Croydon, London. He is the son of an English father and a Chinese mother. With his younger sister Olivia Hardy he formed the music duo Wasia Project in 2019. His other screen credits include the 2024 film Sunrise, in which he played Edward Loi.
