Biography

William Goodhart was an American playwright and screenwriter. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1925, he achieved success on Broadway with his comedy Generation, which opened in 1965, was directed by Gene Saks and starred Henry Fonda.

Goodhart adapted the play for the screen as Generation (1969). He later wrote the screenplay for the film Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977), directed by John Boorman. His other screen credit is the 1980 film Cloud Dancer.

Goodhart died in Shelter Island, New York, in 1999.
