Biography
William Lava (also credited as William B. Lava, Wm. Lava or Bill Lava) was an American composer and arranger. He was born on 18 March 1911 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and died on 20 February 1971 in Los Angeles. He studied at Northwestern University and later conducting with Albert Coates, before moving to Hollywood in 1936.
Lava composed music for feature films and television, including The Twilight Zone (1959). He is noted for his work on Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons from 1962 to 1969, succeeding Milt Franklyn as the final composer in the studio's classic era. His credits also include scores for House of Dracula (1945), The Mummy's Curse (1944), Moonrise (1948), Revenge of the Creature (1955) and series such as F Troop.
