Biography
William LeMassena (23 May 1916 – 19 January 1993) was an American actor. He was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and graduated from New York University. He made his Broadway debut in 1940 in a production of The Taming of the Shrew starring Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, and appeared with them in several subsequent productions.
LeMassena worked extensively in theatre, including musicals such as Call Me Mister and Annie Get Your Gun, and his final Broadway role in a 1988 revival of The Night of the Iguana. His film credits include Carousel (1956) as the Heavenly Friend, Where's Poppa? (1970) and All That Jazz (1979) as Jonesy Hecht. On television he played Ambrose Bingham in the soap opera As the World Turns from 1985 to 1992. He died of lung cancer in New Suffolk, New York.
