Biography
William Lucas, born William Thomas Clucas, was an English actor who worked in film, television, theatre and radio.
Born in Manchester in 1925, he won a scholarship to the Northern Theatre School and began his career in provincial theatre as an assistant stage manager at the Chesterfield Civic Theatre. His screen debut came in the mid-1950s; among his film roles was William Morel in Sons and Lovers (1960).
On television he appeared in series including The Avengers, Coronation Street and Doctor Who, and played Dr James Gordon in The Adventures of Black Beauty (1972–1974). He died in London in 2016.
