Biography
William Marshall was an American actor, singer, bandleader and film director. Born in Chicago, he began as a vocalist with Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians before forming his own band in 1937. He moved to Hollywood in 1940 and appeared in films including Santa Fe Trail (1940) and State Fair (1945), in which he played Tommy Thomas.
Marshall later directed The Phantom Planet (1961) and other features. He worked as a producer and continued in the industry until the 1960s.
