Biography
William Sands (1923–1984) was an American film editor. He was credited as one of the editors, alongside Maury Winetrobe and supervising editor Robert Swink, on the 1968 musical Funny Girl directed by William Wyler. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing, as well as a nomination from the American Cinema Editors.
Sands began his career as an assistant editor in the 1950s, with an uncredited role on The Big Country (1958). His later editing credits include The Only Game in Town (1970), Cactus in the Snow (1971) and Lady Ice (1973). He returned to assistant work on Wolfen (1981).
