Biography
William Shockley is an American actor, musician, director, writer and producer. He was born on 17 September 1963 in Lawrence, Kansas, and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in political science. He began his career in theatre in Dallas before moving to Los Angeles after being cast by Paul Verhoeven in RoboCop (1987).
Shockley is best known for playing Hank Lawson in the CBS series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993–1998). His film roles include Andrew Carver in Showgirls (1995), as well as appearances in The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (1990) and The Joyriders (1999). He has also guest-starred in series such as Quantum Leap, The Pretender and NCIS: Los Angeles.
Shockley has written and directed films including the 2025 western Long Shadows. He is a partner in the production company Tiki Tane Pictures.
