Biography
Wilton Schiller (24 July 1919 – 27 July 2014) was an American television writer and producer. Born in Chicago, he graduated from the University of Chicago and began his career writing for radio and performing comedy before serving in the US Army during the Second World War. After the war he worked as a literary agent at MCA and moved into television writing in the early 1950s.
He wrote episodes of numerous series including Adventures of Superman, Lassie, Dragnet, Leave It to Beaver, Rawhide, Adam-12 and The Six Million Dollar Man. Schiller also wrote the screenplay for the 1964 feature The New Interns. In the 1960s he produced Ben Casey and the first season of Mannix, and he produced the final season of The Fugitive, including its record-breaking 1967 series finale. He later served as executive story consultant on The Six Million Dollar Man and co-wrote the 1979 television film Captain America II: Death Too Soon with his wife, Patricia Payne. Schiller taught screenwriting at UCLA in the 1960s.
