Biography
Wojciech Szepel, also credited as Wojciech Jerzy Szepel, is a Polish cinematographer. He was born on 29 November 1970 in Gorzów Wielkopolski and graduated from the Łódź Film School in 1996. He worked initially in Poland and spent seven years in Berlin before focusing on British productions.
Szepel has served as director of photography on numerous television dramas and miniseries. His credits include White Girl (2008), Tess of the D'Urbervilles (2008), God on Trial (2008), Any Human Heart (2010), Man in an Orange Shirt (2017), Howards End (2017) and Roadkill (2020). He also shot the feature film Kiss of Life (2003).
He received BAFTA TV Award nominations for best photography and lighting for White Girl and Any Human Heart, and an ASC nomination for the latter. Szepel won the Kodak Award for Best Cinematography at the Dinard British Film Festival for Kiss of Life.
