Biography
Wolf Mankowitz was an English writer, playwright and screenwriter. Born Cyril Wolf Mankowitz on 7 November 1924 in the East End of London, he was educated at East Ham Grammar School and Downing College, Cambridge.
He published several novels in the 1950s, including Make Me an Offer (1952) and A Kid for Two Farthings (1953), and wrote the book for the musical Expresso Bongo (1958). His screenplays include The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961), The Millionairess (1960) and Casino Royale (1967). He also contributed to the script for Dr. No (1962) without credit.
Mankowitz died on 20 May 1998 in County Cork, Ireland.
