Biography
Xavier Legrand is a French actor, director and screenwriter. Born on 28 March 1979 in Melun, he began acting as a child, appearing as Babinot in Louis Malle’s Au Revoir les Enfants (1987).
Legrand later trained and worked as a theatre actor before moving into directing. His short film Just Before Losing Everything (2013) was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. His feature debut Custody (2017) premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Silver Lion for Best Director, and received four César Awards. His second feature, The Successor (2023), premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
