Biography
Yannick Choirat is a French actor. Born on 31 August 1974 in Chambéry, Savoie, he studied theatre at Vaugelas High School before moving to Paris, where he trained at the Sorbonne Nouvelle Institute and with Véra Gregh and Tania Balachova. He later attended the school of the Théâtre National de Strasbourg and spent five years with a Théâtre-Forum company directed by Bernard Grosjean.
He began his screen career in the late 1990s and gained wider recognition for his role as Simon in Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone (2012). Subsequent film credits include Daddy or Mommy (2015), In Safe Hands (2018), Angry Annie (2022) and Under Paris (2024). On television he has appeared in series such as Corporate (2017) and portrayed Victor Hugo in the miniseries Victor Hugo, Enemy of the State (2018).
In 2019 Choirat received the best actor award at both the La Rochelle and Luchon festivals for his performance in the television film Un homme abîmé.
