Biography
Yôichi Manoda (also credited as Yoichi Manoda or Manoda Yōichi) is a Japanese cinematographer, special effects director and television producer. Born on 6 October 1935 in Tokyo, he studied under Eiji Tsuburaya at the Tsuburaya Research Institute before joining Toho in 1953, where he worked as an assistant cameraman on numerous tokusatsu productions.
Manoda advanced to special effects cinematographer in the mid-1960s and served as lead cinematographer on Space Amoeba (1970) and Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971). He subsequently moved into special effects direction, working on episodes of series including Return of Ultraman, and later took producing roles on television projects such as Diamond Eye and Megaloman.
