Biography
Yoshio Kosugi (小杉 義男) was a Japanese actor. He was born on 15 September 1903 in Kamitsuga District, Tochigi, and died on 12 March 1968.
He began his career on stage as a shingeki actor and was first recognised for playing Yasha in The Cherry Orchard. Kosugi made his film debut in the 1920s and appeared in more than 120 films until 1967.
He is known for supporting roles in several films directed by Akira Kurosawa, including Sanshiro Sugata (1943), The Men Who Tread on the Tiger's Tail (1945), Seven Samurai (1954) as Farmer Mosuke, and The Hidden Fortress (1958). He also appeared in Toho kaiju films such as King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) as the Chief of Faro Island and Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) as the Chief of Infant Island.
