Biography
Yuu Shimaka (also credited as Yū Shimaka and Yutaka Shimaka) was a Japanese actor and voice actor. Born in Nagano Prefecture on 6 May 1949, he worked with agencies including Production Baobab and Production Aigumi, and appeared in both live-action film and extensive voice work until his death on 28 July 2019.
His film credits include the role of Jingoro Hara in Akira Kurosawa’s Kagemusha (1980). As a voice actor he contributed to numerous anime series and films, including the Mamma Aiuto Gang in Porco Rosso (1992), Dig and Picarro Calvino in Cowboy Bebop (1998), Senba in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (2006), and Berkeley in Ergo Proxy (2006). He was also the long-serving Japanese voice of the Disney character Goofy in dubs and related projects.
