Biography
Yuen Kai-Chi, also credited as Kai-Chi Yuen or K. C. Yuen, is a Hong Kong screenwriter and occasional director. He studied at the University of South Australia, obtaining a master's degree, before returning to Hong Kong in 1982 to work as a screenwriter, initially for Shaw Brothers.
His credits include the screenplay for A Chinese Ghost Story (1987), for which he won the Golden Horse Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and writing contributions to Once Upon a Time in China (1991), The Legend of Drunken Master (1994), Fight Back to School 2 (1992) and The Chinese Feast (1995). He has also served as assistant director and producer on several films, and directed Hot Cop in the City (2004).
Yuen has taught film and creative writing courses at institutions including Hong Kong Baptist University, the Open University of Hong Kong and others.
