Biography
Yunus Roy Imer is a Swiss cinematographer born in Zurich in 1987. He completed a preparatory course in film and photography at the Zurich University of the Arts before studying image design and cinematography at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg from 2008 to 2015.
He is known for his collaborations with director Nora Fingscheidt, including System Crasher (2019), which won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, and The Outrun (2024), which premiered at Sundance and received a nomination for the British Independent Film Award for Best Cinematography. Other credits include the documentary Space Dogs (2019), for which he won the Diagonale Award for Best Cinematography in a Documentary, and 99 Moons (2022), nominated for the Swiss Film Award.
Imer is based in Berlin and London. He is a member of the German Film Academy and the European Film Academy, and an alumnus of Berlinale Talents and Sarajevo Talents.
