Biography
Yvonne Sanson was a Greek actress who worked primarily in Italy. Born Fotini Sapountzakis in Thessaloniki, she appeared in 46 films between 1946 and 1972.
She began her career with small roles and gained notice for her performance as Ginevra Canale in Alberto Lattuada's Flesh Will Surrender (1947). Sanson frequently collaborated with actor Amedeo Nazzari in popular melodramas directed by Raffaello Matarazzo, including Chains (1949) and Nobody's Children (1951). She later played Giulia's mother in Bernardo Bertolucci's The Conformist (1970).
Sanson was naturalised Italian and died in Bologna in 2003.
