Biography
Zachary Scott was an American actor. Born in Austin, Texas, he attended the University of Texas at Austin before pursuing a stage career. He made his Broadway debut in 1941 and was spotted by Jack L. Warner in a 1943 production, leading to a film contract.
Scott's screen debut came in The Mask of Dimitrios (1944). He appeared in The Southerner (1945) and played Monte Beragon in Mildred Pierce (1945). Other credits include Flamingo Road (1949), Born to Be Bad (1950) and The Young One (1960). He was married to actress Ruth Ford from 1952 until his death in Austin on 3 October 1965.
