Biography
Zbigniew Zapasiewicz was a Polish actor, theatre director and pedagogue. Born in Warsaw on 13 September 1934, he studied acting at the National Academy of Theatre in Warsaw, graduating in 1956 after briefly attending the Warsaw University of Technology. He made his stage debut that year and his film debut in 1963.
Zapasiewicz appeared in numerous Polish films, including The Promised Land (1975), Camouflage (1977), Blind Chance (1987), A Short Film About Killing (1988) and Decalogue V (1989), in which he played the Commission Chairman. He also directed for the stage and taught at the Warsaw theatre academy, where he held various administrative posts. He received the Polish Academy Award for Best Actor in 2001.
Zapasiewicz died in Warsaw on 14 July 2009.
