Biography

Aaron May is a British composer who works primarily in film and television, often as part of the duo A&D with David Ridley. He studied music composition at the University of Bristol, where the pair met, and holds an MA in Composition from the institution.

May’s credits include the scores for the feature film Boiling Point (2021) and its BBC series adaptation (2023), both directed by Philip Barantini, as well as Villain (2020), Accused (2023) and the Netflix series Adolescence (2025). The duo’s work frequently involves long-term collaboration with Barantini. Earlier in his career May composed music and sound for BBC broadcasters and created installation works for venues including the V&A and the Science Museum; he received a Music + Sound Award for sound design on the CBBC series Messy Goes to Okido.
