Biography
Abem Finkel was an American screenwriter. Born in New York City on 6 December 1889, he was educated at the City College of New York and worked initially as a stage manager before entering film writing in 1931 at Columbia Pictures. He later held contracts with Warner Bros.
Finkel received screenplay credits on a number of Warner Bros. productions, including Black Legion (1937), Marked Woman (1937), Jezebel (1938) and Sergeant York (1941). He shared an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for the latter. Other credits include White Banners (1938), The Big Shot (1942), Tonight and Every Night (1945) and Time Out of Mind (1947). He died in San Diego, California, on 10 March 1948.
