Biography
Adam Kimmel is an American cinematographer born on 14 October 1960 in New York City. He began his career as a teenager apprenticed to cinematographer Michael Chapman and has worked in camera and electrical departments since the late 1970s.
Kimmel served as director of photography on Capote (2005), Lars and the Real Girl (2007), Never Let Me Go (2010) and Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House (2017). He received Independent Spirit Award nominations for his work on Capote and Never Let Me Go. He has also photographed commercials and short films, and appeared as an actor in Capote.
Kimmel is a registered sex offender. He pleaded guilty in 2004 to rape in the third degree and was later convicted of failing to register as a sex offender. He was expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the American Society of Cinematographers in 2021.
