Biography
Adam Schlesinger (31 October 1967 – 1 April 2020) was an American musician, songwriter, composer and record producer. Born in New York City and raised partly in Montclair, New Jersey, he studied philosophy at Williams College. He was a founding member of the bands Fountains of Wayne, Ivy and Tinted Windows, and worked with Fever High.
Schlesinger composed scores and songs for films including Shallow Hal (2001, with Ivy), That Thing You Do! (1996), Music and Lyrics (2007) and Damsels in Distress (2012). He contributed songs to Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) and served as executive music producer on the television series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015–2019).
He won three Emmy Awards and a Grammy Award, and received Academy Award, Tony Award and Golden Globe Award nominations. Schlesinger died of complications from COVID-19.
